We had a wonderful Christmas this year and although I was done with the snow, it was really neat to have a white Christmas. We ended up hosting Christmas eve at our house due to all the snow, which was really fun for the boys. It was the first time that the boys understood what was going on and they really enjoyed opening presents. So much, that Jacob asked me the other day for more presents.
The big present both Carter and Jacob wanted from Santa were leaf blowers. Yes, you read that right. They are fascinated with watching the lawn care crews come through our neighborhood. They also got some new trucks, their first John Deer tractor and a firehouse complete with a fire truck. They love all of their new toys and I am enjoying it too as it keeps them busy.

Snowed-In
We have been snowed-in for about a week now and the snow/sleet just keeps coming. I just saw a weather report that we might get more snow tonight. I cannot remember a time like this in Portland. Luckily I have most of my Christmas shopping done, although there are still a couple of little things I need to pick up. Guess we might have to chain up to get out of here.
Yesterday, it literally snowed all day. It was so pretty. We took the boys out in it several times and baked some sugar cookies which they helped decorate (lots and lots of sprinkles). Later in the day, we went sledding with the neighbors. Jacob loved it!! Even though he was starting to shiver, he kept saying "more sledding." Although all this snow is pretty, I sure hope that this weather let's up soon. We definitely have cabin fever!

Our Day in the Snow
Given that we are now preparing for another snow storm, I thought I should put some pictures up of the boys from the first one. This was the boys first time to get to really play in the snow. Jacob was eager to get outside and see what it was all about. Carter on the other hand was up to his usual tricks - not wanting to wear a coat, hat or gloves. After some tears, he finally got with the program and came outside. They had a great time in the snow, although they weren't able to stay for long since it was so cold outside. Although, I love the snow, I am not looking forward to another snow storm since I still have Christmas shopping to get done - yikes!

O Christmas Tree
On Saturday morning, we headed out to Sleigh Bells to get our Christmas tree and to try to avoid the crowds. We were able to find a great tree although it is not as tall as I would like (I love huge trees). The boys had a great time walking among all the trees and watching them get cut down. Although it was probably only 35 degrees outside, Carter of course refused to wear his coat and hat (it is his new thing - no coat - so annoying). Once we got the tree home, the boys wanted to help decorate it. Check out the pictures of my little elf's putting lights on the tree.
They were of course more interested in watching the tree get cut down than smiling for a picture.
