Thank You

Jacob has recently been starting to say lots of new words, but the other day when he uttered the sweetest little "hank you" my heart just melted :) What a sweet little boy he is!

The Sprinkler

Since it was so hot this past weekend, the boys got there first opportunity to run through the sprinkler. Carter loved every minute of it, although he thought it was more fun to hold the sprinkler. Jacob decided it was better to stand back and observe before joining the fun. (If you look closely you will notice Carter is wearing his sunglasses. He thinks they are pretty cool).

Vacuums

For some reason my kids are obsessed with vacuum cleaners. They love playing with ours (when it is off) so much that we keep having to find new hiding places for it since they can't seem to play with it together . It is currently hiding in our attic if that gives you any idea how annoying it is. Pottery Barn Kids makes these toy vacuums that look and sound like real ones. They are the best money I ever spent.

We're Moving!!

Yes, it is true. The Dietz house is on the market as of tomorrow. Our new house is just being built and won't be ready until the end of August so we are hoping that gives us enough time to sell this house since our offer on the new house is contingent. We are very excited and hope everything works out as planned.

Just Because

I had to share this picture of Carter wearing my sunglasses

New Shoes

First I have to start by saying that Will is going to die when he sees this post because he thinks I have become completely obsessed with this story, which I have, but I had to share it anyway.

We went to Nordstrom this weekend to run a few errands and have Jacob's feet measured since he was starting to tug on his shoes. We get this guy who doesn't seem real knowledgeable but how hard can it be. So, after he measures Jacob's feet and tells us that his shoes are two sizes too small, we decide we better get Carter's feet measured as well - same story. How did this happen so quickly? Although we didn't really have time, we have to get them new shoes - poor kids. So, we pick out a couple of different options and they of course only have one style in both of their sizes (which he told us is an 8 - they are definitely going to have Will's feet). He puts the shoes on the boys and we decide they look cute (assuming that he is making sure they fit properly). As we are paying for the shoes Will says "are they really supposed to be this big on them?" To which the salesman assures us that they are. The boys wear the shoes home and straight outside which is when we begin to notice that they are absolutely huge on them and Jacob's are falling off. Perfect - now we have to go shoe shopping again with two 19 month olds - good times.

So, on Monday we returned the shoes that were an entire size too big and got them the ultimate Oregon shoe - Keen's. Have you guys seen these things? They are not the cutest and they scream "I live in Oregon," but they look very comfortable and are super durable. Here is a link (the boys got dark blue): http://www.keenfootwear.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=8212

So, in the end we got the boys their new shoes and I am probably making more of this story than I need to, but seriously, isn't that why you go to Nordstrom in the first place - to get shoes that fit your kids properly?

Raising Twins

I recently saw a t-shirt that read "raising twins is an extreme sport" and while there are days that I definitely feel that way, most of the time I just feel incredibly blessed to have two little boys to spend my days with.

Tomorrow they will turn 19 months and it is so interesting to watch them grow up together and begin to interact with one another (they just started to hold each others hand). Yesterday they had their twin play group over and it is very interesting to see them all together because for the most part they stick with their twin. I thought it would be fun to include some additional interesting facts about twins. For example:
  • The average number of diapers changed in the first year is between 4,532 and 6,800.

  • By the time they are potty trained, they will go through between 12,000 and 18,000 diapers.

  • Of the five types of twin births, about 40% are fraternal boy/girl, followed by girl/girl fraternal and boy/boy fraternal. Identical twins are the least common, with boy/boy identical representing the least common percentage of all twin births.
  • Many twins and multiples develop and speak a language that only they understand.
