Endless Possibilities

Over the past week, Carter has started to use his imagination. It just showed up out of the blue one night and now he is always pretending his toys are something else. It is the sweetest thing. Last week, he went into his room and came out with a pair of pants that are too small for him on and had put his sandals on over his socks (not a good look). When he came out he asked me for his backpack (we got them little backpacks for Maui but they never took an interest in them). I should add that the school bus picks up the kids from the neighborhood every morning in front of our house, so that is how he knows that kids wear backpacks to school. Once he had his backpack on, he turned to me and said "bye-bye Mama, Carter go to school." He ran off into our bonus room and climbed onto this play firetruck they have and told me he was going to school on the bus. It was super cute, although the thought of him going to school makes me sad already!! I hope he never looses that side of himself :)

Long Time No Talk

I have to apologize for my very boring blog! It has been weeks since I have updated it. The reason is simple - we all got sick. Carter and Will just got colds but Jacob and I got the flu. Since the boys have been born, Will has never had to stay home from work to help me when I have been sick, but this flu put me in bed for two straight days. Thank goodness he was able to take care of the boys while I was trying to get better. So, I promise I will have some new posts very soon!!

The Pumpkin Patch

We took the boys to the pumpkin patch this weekend. We went to the same place that I went to as a kid, although they have a lot more to do then just get a pumpkin now, it was a lot of fun. The boys got to ride the tractor out to the pumpkin patch, which they both loved and see a bunch of farm animals. They ran around the pumpkins, kicking the rotten ones and picking out their perfect pumpkin. We all had a great time.

Happy Birthday Carter and Jacob

It is hard to believe that 2 years ago today our lives were forever changed with the birth of Carter and Jacob. While the memories of their journey into the world are still so vivid, the past 2 years seem to have just flown by. I would love to be able to box up each and every moment of their lives so that I don't forget a thing, but since I can't, I am going to keep blogging. That way they will have something to look back on that captures all of the happy, sad, silly and fun times they had growing up.

In their 2 short years, they have developed their own unique personalities, which I will try to capture here with words. Although, anyone who has met Carter and Jacob will tell you that words will never do them justice.

Carter:

The best way to describe Carter is sugar and spice - a lot of spice! He LOVES to have fun! He lives every day to its fullest, we always say "he is just so happy to be alive." Like his mama, he feels his emotions very intensely. He wants what he wants, when he wants it and you had better watch out if you are the one to tell him "no." He is one of the funniest little boys you will ever meet, always making us laugh. It is not uncommon to hear him talking some sort of "twin speak" to Jacob, ending with the two them just cracking up. Carter is very much a dada's boy right now, even rising every morning at 5:30 am just so he can see him off to work. Carter loves playing with Jacob - often giving him hugs and kisses, being outside, dancing to music, Elmo, and just being silly.

Jacob:

The best way to describe Jacob is the laid-back one. He is the sweetest little boy and very loving. He has just started saying "luvvv u," which just melts my heart. Jacob is sensitive, shy in new situations, loves his routine, and is grumpy when he doesn't get enough sleep. Although, Jacob is typically our more serious child, he has recently been showing us his silly side. He is usually pretty content. He loves to look at books and have them read to him, play with Carter, Elmo, soccer and being outside. One of his favorite things to do outside right now is collect leaves and throw them in the spider webs - can we just say "all boy."

Although they are each unique in their own ways, for the most part, they enjoy doing a lot of the same things. They are both very verbal right now, learning new words or phrases every day. They hate to be apart. Jacob was very sad when Carter recently spent the night in the hospital. Not eating much of anything and asking where Carter was. They fill our days with joy and laughter and while I will be the first to admit that they are extremely challenging at times, we wouldn't have it any other way. Happy Birthday to two very special little boys!!
