We took the boys to the zoo today for the first time since last summer. They had a great time, but they especially enjoyed the elephants. There was a large male elephant which Carter decided to "roarrrr" at. You see they are just learning there animal sounds and apparently Carter thinks elephants roar like lions. It was absolutely hilarious!! I wish I had pictures but of course as we were both frantically trying to get all of the boys stuff together we left the camera at home. Next time I promise to bring my camera.

Car Sick
So, this past weekend I went to Vegas with my girlfriends from college (it was my first weekend away) . I had a great time once I arrived, but getting out of town proved to be a little more challenging than I would have liked. Will and the boys drove me to the airport and after being stuck in traffic for almost an hour and still 10 minutes away from the airport, Jacob started screaming. We just thought he was upset about being in the car so long and then it happened! He started throwing up (i know - too much information) everywhere. We of course had nothing in the car to clean him up with besides a blanket (bad parents). As we pulled up to the airport, Will and I both jumped out of our vomit filled car and stripped Jacob's clothes off, put him in Carter's coat and his diaper for the ride home. Poor Jacob had gotten car sick (this is the second time now that this has happened) which explains the screaming. I was running late so I had to leave poor Will to deal with the rest of the mess. It wasn't exactly the perfect start to Will's first weekend alone with the boys. Thank goodness Grandpa Jim was coming up to help out. I seriously hope he does not get sick on the plane to Hawaii :(

Fun in the Sun
This weekend was the first nice day Portland has seen since last October (yes, you read that right). We took full advantage of the sunshine and spent the weekend outside with the boys. Early Saturday morning, Will ran to get the boys a little slide for the backyard which Carter promptly decided he would try to walk up (check out the pic). I have a feeling he will always be our adventurous one.Next it was time to discover the hose. Once we turned the water on, it was only a matter of minutes before both of them where soaking wet. They laughed and laughed for a good 15 minutes playing together especially when Jacob drank water from the hose. They have just started to really enjoying playing together, which is so much fun for us to see. The only downside to the weekend was that it had to come to an end and the rain returned. Here is hoping for some sunshine again soon.

Carter "Kobayashi" Dietz
So I think I may be raising the next competitive hot dog eater. He may even take on Takeru Kobayashi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takeru_Kobayashi) some day - lol :) All kidding aside, Carter absolutely loves hot dogs!! While I don't really like giving hot dogs to my kids, I think the all natural ones can't be that horrible as long as they don't have them that often. That said, Carter inhaled almost two whole hot dogs for lunch today. I have no idea where he puts it :)

colds and ear infections
We have had a busy month. The boys both got bad colds which we thought after a week of them not sleeping and coughing constantly were finally getting better - wrong. Carter spent an entire night up crying (and when I say an entire night, I mean it). We had no idea what was wrong (can you tell we are first time parents?). So, at 10:00 pm we were on the phone with the advice nurse at the hospital and then again at 3:00 am. Only to learn at 3 that Tylenol does not help with ear infections and that he was going to need some Motrin until we could get him to the doctor the next morning. Do you think we had Motrin in our house - of course not. So, off to Walgreens Will went. Carter finally slept for 2 hours - poor baby. The next morning I took him to the doctor where we learned about the ear infections. Thankfully the doctor was able to tell me what was wrong because if had told me nothing I may have started crying right in front of him at the thought of another sleepless night.

Our Blog
So, we decided it was finally time to get a blog! Although our lives are not that exciting, we thought it would be a good way to keep everyone up to date on what the boys have been up to. We hope you will enjoy hearing about the boys and all of their adventures.
