ALOHA!!

We are back from our first family vacation in Maui! It was so nice to get away and we had a great time in paradise. Our adventure began last friday morning around 5:00 am. We had to get the boys up early to get ready and out the door for our flight, which we would soon learn was not going to be a good thing for Jacob.

We arranged to have my brother-in-law (thanks Joel) come with us to the airport to help me with the boys and all the bags while Will took the car out to long term parking. You see with twins you can't exactly park your car, carry your bags and two kids. Everything started off as planned, we even got an extra seat given to us for Carter since the flight wasn't full. Although, getting through security with a twin stroller and all of our carry-on's was comical. We made the decision to take both the boys carseats on the flight which was a good thing and a bad thing. It was horrible to get them through the airport even though we had bags for them and a good thing on the flight because it kept them contained. It worked out so well for Carter that the sweet boy fell asleep on the runway before we even took off - love that kid! Jacob on the other hand, well, where do I start. Let's just say that Jacob decided that a 5 hour flight to Maui would be a good time to start the "terrible two's." OMG - Will and I thought the flight was never going to end (he only slept for about 30 minutes which we captured in the picture below) and when he decided to scream for the last 20 minutes of the flight, well, I began to cry too :(

When we arrived at our hotel, it was perfect! We were greeted with leis which Carter loved and Jacob hated (see pic). The boys would soon learn what a great place Maui is. The hotel had huge pools with waterfall, slides and a pirate ship which we spent every day playing in. We quickly developed a routine - beach first thing in the morning (and I mean first thing - the boys were usually up by 5:30 am), then the pool, breaks for eating, sleeping and of course drinking - the boys would have an afternoon smoothie while Will and I enjoyed a beverage of our own :

Carter was a perfect angel the entire trip. Whatever we wanted to do was fine with him. Jacob on the other hand kept up his "terrible two" behavior off and on for the entire trip and began cutting his two year molars. Let's just say there was a lot of screaming melt downs that went something like this "NOOOOOO, NOOOOO WAY, NOOOOO."

Overall, we had a wonderful time and it was definitely worth all of the hard work. The boys had a great time and it was so much fun to be able to spend 7 days with my husband and little boys!

Here are a few pics and we will post more soon!
